As far as Cape Town landmarks go the unfinished bridge in the foreshore is pretty much one of those things that has earned a place as being part of the city since the 1960’s. Well it may soon be a thing of legend after Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille told the Cape Town Press Club recently that within the next 5 years the unfinish bridge will be completed and connect Helen Suzman Boulevard from Green Point to the N1 near the Cape Town yacht club. This will allow traffic from Green Point to bypass the traffic lights leaving the city on Buitengracht street.
The project is set to ease the growing traffic congestion in the city.
“De Lille, who spoke to the club about her vision for the city for the next five years, said another exit road would be built parallel to the N1 entry/exit road near the current Cape Yacht Club. “We have met with Prasa and Transnet… they are all on board.” [Cape Messenger]
