UPDATE: see below.

26 year old Noordhoek resident, Matthew Theunissen, is the new Penny Sparrow after his racist Facebook post went viral yesterday. Theunissen, who is originally from Durban, posted the message in response to SA sports minister Filike Mbalula’s decision to revoke the rights of the SA Rugby, cricket and athletics federations to host international tournaments. His Facebook post, calling the government ‘a bunch of ka***rs’ and ‘black f**king c**ts’ was quickly screengrabbed and shared over social media which sparked outrage. His home address and phone number, which was linked to his LinkedIn profile, was also widely shared.

UPDATE: Matthew Theunissen says he’s not a racist and that he ‘was in an extremely‚ extremely bad mood’.

Theunissen spoke with John Maytham at Cape Talk yesterday and said he was sorry and that he regret it for the rest of his life. Here’s the interview.
