The Muslim teenager who made headlines yesterday after being arrested when he brought a homemade clock to school to show his teachers has again hit the headlines today after getting offers from the White House, Facebook, NASA and several other institutions in a show of support. 14 year old Ahmed Mohamed, a keen inventor, brought the clock to school and when the alarm went off one of his teachers said it looked like a bomb. Police were called in an Ahmed was handcuffed, arrested and threatened with expulsion. The outcry on social media was so huge that President Obama, Mark Zuckerberg, NASA and many others got involved to show their support.
During questioning it’s reported that Ahmed was asked
“They were like, ‘So you tried to make a bomb?’” Ahmed said.
“I told them no, I was trying to make a clock.”
“He said, ‘It looks like a movie bomb to me.’
He was suspended for 3 days.
This prompted the hashtag #IstandwithAhmed to trend worldwide and got these high profile responses.
There are plenty more, but how awesome is that.
