A free wi-fi service is set to launch in Cape Town central on Friday. Much like the free wi-fi in Stellenbosch, Cape Town will be offering the public free internets. Finally we are making baby steps to a more city-wide tech future. But before you start scrapping your data plan you should know that it’s confined to the Company’s Garden…oh and users will only be allowed 100 MB a day. Feel free to roll your eyes at the thought of a whole 100 MB of data…
Hey, but at least its a start.
“The company’s Garden will soon move into the tech-savvy era with free wi-fi services which could eventually spread to more areas in the Cape Town city centre.
The city, along with the Iziko Museums and wi-fi specialists Connected Space, are busy putting the final touches to the wi-fi installation at the historic gardens.
The service is expected to be active on Friday.” [iol]
I can just picture a whole bunch of people sitting on one of the benches wondering why their dodgy porn video is stuck on buffering.
