Ok so during the Springbok vs Samoa rugby test on Saturday, Samoan fullback James So’oialo clearly grabs and squeezes the testicles of SA player Adriaan Strauss. So’oialo was cited for the offence, but later cleared by officials who stated that the contact was accidental.
How the hell do you accidentally grab and squeeze someones ballbag.
And judging from Strauss’s reaction i doubt whether he felt it was an accident. He even threw a reactionary punch that missed, then ripped two Samoan players out of the way to confront So’oialo and if you can lip read his Afrikaans then that p-word pretty much shows how angry he was.
Yes..clearly that was an accident and he fell with his hand on Strauss’s naartjies then flipped his hand around and squeezed them by mistake.
According to officials:
“The player was cited by Peter Larter (RFU) according to Law 10.4(m), committing an act contrary to good sportsmanship, for an incident which occurred in the 12th minute of the second half.
Judicial Officer Jeff Blackett (RFU) decided that the contact was accidental and dismissed the citing.
Blackett said: “If I am to uphold this citing I must conclude that the player has lied to me. My assessment of the player is that he is honest: he immediately accepted that he had grabbed an opponent’s testicles – he did not attempt to dispute that fact – and he said that there is no room in the game for insidious acts. I guess we can put that in the on-the-ball category instead of an off-the-ball incident hey.
