Home affairs could soon make UK visitors apply for a visa to come to SA
Posted by on May 20th, 2013

Ya hey…if home affairs minister Naledi Pandor has her way then visitors from the UK may soon have to apply for a visa to come to South Africa. In a tit-for-tat display of childish tendancies the SA government is considering a reciprocal visa regime because the Brits don’t want to talk about lifting the South African visa requirement to enter the UK.

Pandor said that following the London Olympics, the UK promised to focus on whether the visa requirement for SA citizens travelling to there could be lifted, but nothing has happened since.

“Frustrated by Britain’s apparent reluctance to lift its visa requirements for South Africans, government is considering playing tit-for-tat and demanding the same from UK visitors. “

“If government decides to implement a reciprocal visa regime, UK visitors – including government officials and diplomats – would have to apply for visas.” [News24]

Word from the British High Commission in Pretoria is that they are concerned that SA passports are available to people who are not entitled to them…ie. that we are still corrupt and sh*t.

He has a point.

They do have a point. Anyone can go get a passport here. Sad but true, and our border control sucks so makes it doubly easy for people to get themselves to UK via SA.

Finally a decent idea by Home Affairs.

Always wondered why us South Africans had to struggle like mad to enter their s###hole …

Perhaps if we weren’t hosting 3 Al Quaeda training camps in this country, we’d have an easier time with the UK.

We’ve been warned about this by the US (its not even new news), but noooo – we go our own way …

They say you can’t choose your family, but, Jeez, man, you sure can choose your friends …
