DStv’s Universal Channel apologises for airing Mandela obituary tribute last night
Posted by on Apr 3rd, 2013

The Universal Network has issued an apology for airing a Remembering Madiba clip last night. The obituary was broadcast in error on DStv 117 and the Universal Channel profusely apologised this morning to anyone thinking the great man had died because of their mistake.

Here’s a snap shot of the reaction on Twitter.

And here’s the apology.

“Like any international broadcaster, Universal Networks holds obituaries ready for every major statesman in the world.

Universal Networks wishes to offer a sincere and heartfelt apology for the airing of such an announcement for Nelson Mandela, which broadcast last night (Tuesday 2nd April) on the Universal Channel due to a technical error by our team” [DStv]

Not cool.

[thanks @NickiLinde]
