The US Anti-Doping Agency has released a statement about the Lance Armstrong doping investigation and things don’t look very rosy for Lance in their 1000 page report. Especially this sentence in the opening paragraph of their statement: “The evidence shows beyond any doubt that the US Postal Service Pro Cycling Team ran the most sophisticated, professionalized and successful doping program that sport has ever seen.”
And this one.
“The evidence in the case against Lance Armstrong is beyond strong; it is as strong as, or stronger than, that presented in any case brought by USADA over the initial 12 years of USADA’s existence.”
Not ideal that and the USADA has hundreds of pages of testimony and Usada chief executive, Travis T Tygart, said there was “conclusive and undeniable proof” of a team-run doping conspiracy.
Here’s some more highlights of report.
“Armstrong’s use of drugs was extensive, and the doping program on his team, designed in large part to benefit Armstrong, was massive and pervasive. When Mr. Armstrong refused to confront the evidence against him in a hearing before neutral arbitrators, he confirmed the judgment that the era in professional cycling which he dominated as the patron of the peloton was the dirtiest ever.”
“found proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Lance Armstrong engaged in serial cheating through the use, administration and trafficking of performance-enhancing drugs and methods that Armstrong participated in running in the US Postal Service Team as a doping conspiracy”.
“Armstrong and his co-conspirators sought to achieve their ambitions through a massive fraud now more fully exposed. So ends one of the most sordid chapters in sports history.”
Here’s part of the statement released yesterday..just click it for the full version and the ‘Reasoned Decision’ report pdf.
In response to the statement Lance Armstrong’s lawyer said:
“[The] statement confirms the alleged ‘reasoned decision’ from Usada will be a one-sided hatchet job – a taxpayer-funded tabloid piece rehashing old, disproved, unreliable allegations based largely on axe-grinders, serial perjurers, coerced testimony, sweetheart deals and threat-induced stories.”
Mmm…doesn’t look like folks are gonna buy that pal.
