A worker in Camps Bay had to be airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after he tried to stop an out-of-control SUV on the slopes of Table Mountain near Theresa Avenue in Camps Bay. The man was working on a waterpipe when (according to a resident of the area) he ran after the vehicle and jumped inside to apply the brakes. It headed up a verge and he jumped out when the vehicle overturned and landed on top of him.

Several emergency service arrived on the scene, including ER24 who took this picture.

Details are unclear of what exactly occured, but this from ER24.

“The vehicle then veered off of the path and started to overturn. One of the workers who was outside of the vehicle at the time was caught underneath the vehicle as it overturned on top of him. Multiple Emergency Medical Services including, ER24, the Life Vincent Pallotti paramedic and Camps Bay medics arrived at the scene to find the man entrapped underneath the bakkie. On-scene paramedics promptly dispatched the AER24 helicopter to the scene. The worker was carefully extricated from underneath the bakkie.” [ER24]

Good job getting him out safely guys.
