Without a doubt The Nelson’s Eye steak house in Gardens. The venue isn’t all that and the price is not cheap but the steak is unbelievably good!
My best: 380 gram Sirloin, MR with their monkey gland sauce and the cafe garlic butter which melts on top! + bottle of Allesverloren Shiraz. Doesn’t get any better :)

1.Buy the meat from Salvin at the Neighbourgoods butcher, Biscuitmill, on saturday. 2 Leave it, vacuumpacked, on the lowest shelf of the fridge for another 2 weeks. 3 Cook it yourself, and do a decent job. Cape Town restaurant steaks suck, the whole bunch of them, and if you can’t cook a decent one yourself you shouldn’t be allowed to eat.

    1st Balthazar , 2nd HQ, and 3rd City Grill.

Nelson’s eye is ok, but you always have to deal with the owner/manager screaming and shouting at the staff. It creates an unpleasant vibe.

It’s not just about the steak you know… talk about the vibe, the ambiance, the wine pairings, etc etc etc etc etc….

Without a doubt, Hussar Grill takes the cake. Specifically the Camps Bay one. Enjoy a saucy steak not just with fresh fries, but also amazing complimentary sweet potato crisps, garlic olives and biltong.

Now why WOULDN’T you vote for that??!??!

Obviously those who have voted above haven’t been to HG Camps Bay else they’d be voting right now!!

The Hussar Grill Steenberg Village without a doubt! It speaks for itself – if you don’t make a reservation between Tuesday and Sunday beforehand you’re lucky to walk in and get a table. The Fillet on the bone is out of this world! Try it Hollandse Biefstuk style.

No competetion really, Hussar in Rondebosch, for all round excellence…food, ambience, management and staff…from the minute you walk up to the entrance, until the sad minute you walk out again, you have experienced Cape Towns finest.

Hands down Belthazar Grill & Wine Bar at the V&A, i find myself craving their Chicargo cut rib eye steak (done medium) with an onion blossom omg orgasmic. No sauce for me just the chefs basting… best steak in town. Fast attentive service and said to have a wine selection spanning some 600 wines. Maybe not the cheapest…. definately the best!!

Don’t know under which rock all of you have been living.
By far the best steak in Cape Town is to be eaten at Belthazar in V&A.
The meat is incredible, the sauce is incredible, the service, vibe and everything else is incredible.
Do yourself a favour and have a real steak experience. Oh and make sure you have an onion blossom

Belthazar is the best steakhouse in SA and also one of the top all round restaurants!

Belthazar makes the best steak in cape town, hands down.
Their beef fillet is absolutely superb and I have never had anything like it.
I can say in the world I’ve never had better. They also make a red wine sauce that I can’t resist having it with, which is just as off the charts and compliments the steak superbly.
If you haven’t eaten there, do yourself a favour and treat yourself.
You’re paying for quality so don’t expect MacDonalds prices, but it’s not the most expensive steak I’ve had either.
They also run specials over lunch and that is great value.
Try it out if you’re looking for something new or just want to have the best steak in cape town.
