Nando’s responds to Santam’s challenge and has raised the stakes

Ok so yesterday Santam responded to the Nando’s spoof ad by issueing a pretty brilliant ad challenging the flame grilled chicken chain to provide kids at the Johannesburg Childrens Home with a list of food items by Thursday.

Well Nando’s has responded and gone one step better. They have offered to provide a meal a month for a full year.

Bravo Nando’s. Bravo.

Knew the folks at Nando’s would come to the party.

“Quentin Cronje, marketing director for Nando’s, said on the show that he didn’t anticipate Santam’s response, “but it’s nice to have fun with other brands.”

Cronje told Whitfield: “Our marketing department went to the Johannesburg Children’s Home today and we are going to give them a meal a month for a year.

“We’re also going to deliver tomorrow” [News24]

Nicely done both parties. Love seeing this kind of thing.

A master class by both brands. I hope to see more of this happening with the other major brands but fear the bar has been set to high. Santam, Nandos congratulations on using your corporate muscle to benefit the less fortunate as opposed to filling your pockets with law suits. I pray this will not be the end.
