Did beer giant SAB copy the We Love Real Beer logo and identity [pics]

Following that whole David vs Goliath public spat between retail giant Woolworths and Frankies vintage soft drink HERE it’s rather surprising to see another public dispute brewing  (see what i did there) between the largest beer company in the world SAB Miller and a local craft beer initiative We Love Real Beer.

Couple of years back the We Love Real Beer initiative was started by microbreweries Brewers&Union and Jack Black to promote a community of real beer lovers who appreciate the naturally brewed beers made by independant brewers. They even held a festival which i’m sure many of you attended here in Cape Town and you will no doubt recognise the logo or identity associated with it.

I actually have one of those t-shirts.

At a recent craft beer festival in the Free State sponsored by beer giant SAB Miller the beer maidens were spotted wearing these t-shirts.

Mmmmmmm’ …what do reckon? Is this another case of the big guy ripping off the little guy or just social media having a frothy.

“There was quite a bit of a chatting on Twitter this morning regarding SAB Miller’s printed T-shirts that staff wore at the recent Clarens Beer Festival. It seems that many are disgruntled and are referring to this as another ‘David & Goliath’ situation. “ [BeergardenSA]

Isn’t that logo also similar to the I heart My Hood campaign?

The only problem here is the copy. The use of the word craft is too much of a coincidence to not be intentional. If people have a problem with the design, that’s just dumb. What about the the I love NY shirts and so forth. Not exactly revolutionary.

Different font and heart. Craft brewers must grow up. Beer is beer is beer. Its about good times and cold brew. You internet nerds should spend more time away from twitter and in the real world.
