Floyd Mayweather throws a cheap shot KO and a post-match fanny wobble [video]
Posted by on Sep 19th, 2011

Huge boxing drama over the weekend as undefeated Floyd Mayweather stole claimed the WBC welterweight title by knocking out Victor Ortiz with what many are describing as a cheap shot while Ortiz was trying to apologize with his guard down.

Then in the post-fight interview Mayweather let rip at 80 year old veteran announcer Larry Merchant saying “HBO needs to fire you. You know sh*t about boxing. You aint sh*t. You not sh*t.

Here’s the video of Floyd being a dick. Twice.

Ok so i watched it several times and the headbutt from Ortiz was definately deliberate. The ref says “let’s go” so technically i’m taking that as the fight is back on.

I get the whole ‘protect yourself at all times’ rule of boxing, but damn that’s some unsportsman like sh*t.

And how’s his rant in the post-fight interview? Larry Merchant may be an annoying coffin dodger, but does he deserve to be disrespected like that? Props to him though for saying “I wish I was 50 years younger and I’d kick your ass“.

Okay so we all think Mayweather is a huge tool; and thank goodness he is. What state would boxing be in if it wasn’t for him.

All these people saying they’ll never watch another Mayweather fight…oh please! We can’t wait for the next fight, whether it’s the rematch or finally a show down with Pacman.

Mayweather gets in to that ring to fight! I’ll say it again, FIGHT!

Theirs is no doubt that the better human being is Ortiz. If it was a hugging contest, Ortiz wins. Mr Congeniality, Ortiz wins.
Unfortunately for him, this is boxing and he made the biggest mistake any boxer can make. Protect yourself at all times!

End of discussion.

Ortiz, learn the tough lesson and come back stronger, but more importantly, smarter.

Definite cheap shot there. Understandale that he was angry at the headbutt and definately within his rights to fire off that first punch after the ref said let’s go. But then it was so obvious that Ortiz kept his hands down as if to say hey what the f**k are you doing. The second KO punch that followed was completely offside. Unsportsmanlike for a dude thats getting paid $50 million. Nothing wrong with what he did in the fight or in the post match interview..just Flloyd being a dick. No surprises.

Roles reversed, we’d be saying Mayweather got what he deserved by getting knocked the f*&k out.
We’d all be laughing at Floyd for not protecting himself.

Mayweather breaks no rules during the fight. Ortiz on the other hand…

(Just to be clear – I’m a huge Ortiz fan)

He didn’t technically break any rules but what would happen if Ortiz was walking up to him to touch gloves and just before he touched gloves he gave him a little right hook. It’s a cheap shot!

Without a doubt a cheap shot, but for f%*k sake Ortiz, this is boxing! It’s the first thing they teach you…PYAAT.
The 24yr old(rookie) got school by the veteran… They had already touched gloves; they had hugged twice, although it seems Ortiz still had a few more hugs in him.

Getting beat this way has saved Ortiz’s rep…this way people forget about how he was getting out boxed in every round and now has just set himself up for a huge rematch pay day.

If the fight between Mayweather and Pacman ever comes off…Mayweather floors him in the 8th.
