The ‘Name Your Hood’’s your chance to rename Cape Town
Posted by on Jun 24th, 2011

I’ve always thought that Cape Town deserves a less kak name for the city center than the CBD hey. Havn’t you wished they coulda thought of a better name? Well know’s your chance because the public have been given the opportunity to rename some of Cape Town’s districts with the Name Your Hood project.

See all those different areas there. Well those are the ones that the public have been invited to rename. The initiative launches on 30 June and you will be allowed to submit names from 4th July HERE.

“After a three-week naming period all hood name suggestions will be put before a panel of architects, planners, musicians, local celebrities and historians. This panel will create a shortlist of the best names chosen for each hood.
From this shortlist the best name for each hood will then be decided by public vote.”

Here’s a video describing what the deal is.

Pretty cool hey.

Have you thought of some names? Let’s hear it if have any suggestions so far?
