Ahhh it’s been a while since i’ve written about Hout Bay’s fabulous creatures The Soap Girls hey. If you don’t know who they are then best you educate yourself because they are like the unicorns of Hout Bay. Their magical website defines them as such “The SoapGirls are Camille and Noemie, two French African blonde bombshells who prove that sisters can do it for themselves, as they stamp their fresh and unique identity on a world that’s tired of video clichés and pre-fabricated pop”.

Well they have a new video on the Youtubes called You Ought To Know and you should watch it because it’s going viral according to them. The background setting, the yellow raincoat styling, the Hello Kitty guitar is simply amazing. And let’s not even get into the part where they stop singing and start speaking in a US accent…that bit alone echoes through the heavens like an angel fart.

That deserves a slow clap.

Black Sabbath – Paranoid live in Philadelphia 1985 [video]

Most of you will recognize the name Ozzy Osbourne, but some of you younger readers will sadly only know him as the crazy old timer in the Osbournes, which is a shame because he was once the lead singer of Black Sabbath…one of the pioneering heavy metal bands. Ozzy became known as the Prince Of Darkness and Black Sabbath went on to sell over 100 million albums and be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

During his reign as Black Sabbath lead singer, Ozzy famously made headlines for biting the head off a bat while on stage in 1982. I’m not gonna show you that performance, but rather this one at Live Aid in 1985 with 100 000 fans packed into JFK stadium.

Seriously…100 000 screaming fans is pretty epic. You should press play.

PSY and MC Hammer did a Gangnam Style remix at the AMAs last night [video]

It was the American Music Awards 2012 last night and Justin Bieber cleaned up…the 18yr singer grabbed awards for Favourite Female, Pop Rock Artist and Artist of The Year and blah blah blah who cares because at the end of the show PSY came on and performed his 700-million-plus-views-on-Youtube hit, Gangnam Style. PSY took his performance to the next level though by joining forces with MC Hammer and they did a remix that’s was awesome, but confused all the white people in the audience coz nobody had a clue how to dance to this sh*t.

Wonder how many of you younger readers are scratching your heads wondering who the f**k MC Hammer is?

Don’t blame you though because the dude is like Riaan Cruywagen and most likely 217 years old or something.

Rage Against the Machine – Bulls On Parade live at Rock am Ring 1996 [video]

I was gonna go with a classic rock song from 1982 for the Friday morning music post, but changed my mind at the last moment to throw some metal at you. Not often i feature a metal band, but it’s close enough to hard rock and was requested last week so i did some digging and Rage Against the Machine has cracked the nod. From LA, California and formed in 1991 the band has sold over 16 million albums and during their initial nine-year run, they became one of the most popular and influential bands in music history.

I had plenty of awesome live performances to choose from and in every single one the crowd at a Rage Against The Machine concert is going proper befuk. The one i chose though is madness like a giant mosh pit and the video is shot with a rad vintage effect.

Put the sound up and start your day off with some real music.

Kings Of Leon – Sex on Fire and Use Somebody live at Pinkpop 2011 [video]

Considering that it’s gonna be 32 degrees in Cape Town today and the weather for the weekend is gonna be summer proper i figured i may as well throw some Sex on Fire at you just to get things started early. The Friday morning music post has in the past featured mostly classic rock bands and focused on their live performances since there’s nothing better than hearing the crowd join in and go befuk. You probably consider Kings Of Leon a modern rock band, but they’ve been around since the late 90′s and it wasn’t until 2008 when they hit it big.

As far as crowd interaction and good audio and visual quality goes..this is a pretty outstanding music video so turn the sound up and get involved. Your Friday will be considerably better.

And i may as well throw this video in as well. It’s from the same concert and includes both Use Somebody and Sex on Fire. The video quality is not as good as the one above, but the crowd involvement during Use Somebody is just as rad.

Earlier in the week singer Adele posted a pic on Twitter of the sheetmusic for the new Bond film Skyfall and the following day a partial audio clip was leaked online and now finally the full theme song has been officially released along with the lyrics.

Here’s the full Adele Skyfall music video …well it’s not really a music video as such, but more a video of the lyrics with the audio in the background..meh.

That’s some melodramatic sh*t, but hey all the previous Bond theme songs have like that no. They should totally change things up and make it a rock song or take it to the next level and give it some Gangnam Style.

Right let’s move along shall we…can’t start the day all depressing like that.

Yes i said that song was depressing, not sweeping or haunting….depressing.

I’ll be honest and admit that up until this morning i had never heard a song from Solange Knowles before and all i know about her is that she is the younger sister of Beyoncé. Not exactly my cup of musical tea, but she filmed her new music video, Losing You, in Cape Town and that deserves a post i reckon. Anything that involves Cape Town is worthy so have a look and if you’re like me then it never gets old seeing Table Mountain.

Ha..dig how they crammed her into that overloaded taxi.

Awkward kid makes ‘Everything I Do’ music video that goes viral [video]

Back in the old days when i was a kid and you had a crush on a girl you took days choosing songs to make a mix tape to give her. It was a declaration of how much she meant to you and the songs you chose were how you felt (~~i probably should never have included I like Big Butts and i Cannot Lie in that one tape~~) about her. It’s 2012 though and kids these days have the interwebs…enter this kid Tom and his viral Youtube video he made for his sweetheart Emily. Tom decided that he would show the world how much Emily means to him by singing Everything I Do by Bryan Adams and it is the most glorious thing you’ll see all day.

Next level romantic this.

Watch till the end. He even does a mean guitar solo impression and after has a message for Emily on how much he cares.

Seriously…form a queue ladies! How romantic was that!

I wanna give that kid a hug and high five and a klap all at the same time. That was magical.

Take a bow dude, that sh*t is gonna haunt you for ever, but huge props for putting it out there. Other kids may make fun of you now pal, but when you’re older i’ll put money down that you’re gonna turn out awesome.

Emily will never ever get a better gift than that. Ever.

Twisted Sister- We’re Not Gonna Take It, live in 1982 [video]

I was torn this morning because i couldn’t decide which song to play as the Friday morning music post, but then i listened to both of them again and decided that the message of this song is rather relevant after i scanned the South African news feeds earlier and read about corruption and crime and the petrol price increase blah blah i’m sick of this sh*t etc.

That and the fact that it’s glam metal…heavy metal with a touch of glam. All kinds of old school awesome.

Don’t laugh though because the band members of Twisted Sister may have had long hair, outrageous clothing and sparkly blue eyeshadow on, but they would have sprinkled some low grade coke on Justin Bieber and all his fans and snorted them for breakfast. They dominated the early 80′s and to put things into perspective how’s this….during a 1984 tour the band was supported by a young Metallica.

Their two most successful songs were played non-stop during the early days of MTV and drew critisism for inciting violence against parents and teachers. It was even brought up in Senate hearings.

Enough talk..put the sound up when you get to work and start the day off properly. Make sure you watch till the end, there are some awesome parts where they stop singing and then get the huge crowd involved.

Taxi Violence recently released the new music video for their song Unholy and it features model and actress Tanit Phoenix topless and getting rather close to another female model.

Mmmm…surprising that the video is still up, what with YouTube’s no-nipple policy.

“Unholy” is the new music video taken from Taxi Violence’s “Unplugged: Long Way From Home” album, released through 2 Feet Music.
