The improved Uber app is here – check these new features
Posted by on Nov 9th, 2016

It’s been years since Uber has redesigned it’s app, but they have just released a new version with several new features that should make it even easier for you to get from point A to point B. The new upgrade focuses on making your journey less complicated and tailored to your destination, routine, calendar and contact list.

‘Where to’ is now the primary start point for the Uber app and you start off by adding your destination or choosing one of your shortcuts…the app learns from your routine and will give you options you travel to most frequently like home, work, the gym etc. Once you’ve confirmed your location you will be able to compare ride options, prices and estimated arrival times and then easily pick the most convenient one. There’s even a option to link the app to your contact list so you can enter someones name as a destination. When they share their location the app will make that the destination.

Here’s a breakdown of the new features.

Shortcuts: the new Uber app learns from your routines. So if you’re a frequent rider you’ll see “shortcuts” that predict where you could be headed.

Calendar: soon you’ll also be able to connect your calendar with Uber. Once you connect, your meetings and appointments will automatically appear as “shortcuts,” saving you the hassle of finding the right address.

Contacts: enables you to set your destination to a person instead of a place. Just sync your contacts with the app, type their name into the search bar and once they’ve shared their location, you’ll be on your way.

Compare ride options: compare the cost of all your options with upfront fares. And for uberPOOL and uberX, you also see what time you’re expected to arrive, so you have what you need to make the best decision for your wallet and schedule.

Good times.

The new rider app is rolling out globally on iOS and Android over the next several weeks so not everyone will see it. Click HERE for more info and early access.
