The South African cricket team pulled off a sensational victory over Australia today and one of the highlights of the test match was the run-out of David Warner by Temba Bavuma. If you didn’t manage to see it then press play because fielding like this doesn’t come along very often. Some are putting it right up there with the Jonty Rhodes ‘Superman’ run-out of Inzamam-ul-Haq during the 1992 World Cup so you know it was special.
Let’s compare the two and see if it’s worthy of the claim to be one of the greatest run-outs of all time.
This is the Bavuma run out.
That’s Temba in mid-air about to directly hit the stumps to run Warner out.
And here’s the famous Jonty Rhodes run-out from 1992.
Ya…as good as Bavuma’s effort was it doesn’t have the magic that Rhodes pulled off in 1992.
Good times though.
