A waitress working at ObzCafe in Cape Town was reduced to tears after a controversial #RhodesMustFall activist refused to tip her saying “WE WILL GIVE TIP WHEN YOU RETURN THE LAND.” Ntokozo Qwabe proudly bragged on Facebook how he couldn’t stop smiling after not tipping the Obz Cafe waitress and why he did it. In response several crowd-funding campaigns were created in support of the 24 yr old waitress, Ashleigh Schultz, with over R44 000 raised locally in the first 24 hours and currently a GoFundMe campaign is sitting at over $6000…or around R80 000.
This was the Facebook post from Qwabe.
And here’s the current GoFundMe page.
Ntokozo Qwabe had his Facebook profile banned, but was back 3 days later and said
“I’m expecting a parallel fundraising campaign for the hundreds of years of actual (not imagined) black pain white people have inflicted (and continue to inflict) on black people’s bodies.
“I am talking about hundreds of years of enslavement, lynching, colonisation & ongoing neocolonisation and capitalist exploitation of black bodies,” he said on Facebook yesterday.
He posted his Facebook account was reported by “white supremacists” so he had set up another.” [iol]
Now you know.
UPDATE: the GoFundMe page has now reached $6815…which is a few rands short of R100 000.
