High court says Zuma must face corruption charges again, previous decision was irrational
Posted by on Apr 29th, 2016

President Jacob Zuma will once again be facing corruption charges after the high court ruled that the previous decision by former NPA head Mokotedi Mpshe to drop the charges against him was ‘irrational’. A massive total of 783 charges (including fraud and against Zuma were withdrawn in 2009 by former NPA head Mokotedi Mpshe. The high court ruled today that ‘We find that Mr Mpshe found himself under pressure, and consequently made an irrational decision”. Zuma who was a presidential candidate at the time will now face the charges as a sitting president.

As i understand it the NPA still has to decide to re-instate the charges and prosecute and for now Zuma is an accused charged with corruption.

“The High Court in Pretoria on Friday granted a go-ahead for a review of the decision to drop 783 charges against President Jacob Zuma on the spy tapes saga.

A full bench of judges, led by Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba, with Judge Cynthia Pretorius and Judge Billy Mothle, delivered judgment in the application by the Democratic Alliance for review of the National Prosecuting Authority’s decision seven years ago to drop the charges against Zuma.

Ledwaba read the full judgment on record because of the public interest in the matter.

“The decision… to discontinue the charges against Mr Zuma is irrational and should be reviewed,” [iol]

How can he STILL be president after all this. Surely this is the end of the line.
