Last week the political landscape of South Africa saw some startling accusations being made public and many thought the ANC NEC over the weekend would address some of the issues of corruption and Zuma’s relationship with the Gupta family. Alas…nothing significant happened while ‘state capture’ became just another catch phrase. Not all is lost though as Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa warned yesterday that “the ANC is not for sale. The ANC refuses to be captured… Those who want to capture the ANC and influence it… you have come to the wrong address,”. There is also ANC stalwart Denis Goldberg who asked Zuma to stepdown and SA’s wealthiest citizen Johann Rupert did the same. Then this morning comes news that SA’s elite police unit the Hawks will investigate the Guptas and Zuma’s son Duduzane.
Th Hawks have launched an investigation after the Democratic Alliance submitted an official complaint.
“Elite police unit the Hawks have launched a corruption probe into President Jacob Zuma’s son Duduzane and the Guptas, a family of businessmen accused of wielding improper political influence, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.” [iol]
