How to change your Twitter timeline back to chronological order and disable best tweets first
Posted by on Mar 16th, 2016

So i’ve been seeing so many people complain about the new Twitter timeline that isn’t in chronological order that i’ve put together a quick public service announcement on how to change it back to how it used to be showing all tweets in reverse order. Twitter has made the new timeline one where they determine which tweets you are likely to care about most and will show them first in your timeline regardless of when they were posted. Basically the new algorithm picks what it thinks are the best tweets from the people you follow and shows those first. I thought it was an opt-in service, but checked mine earlier today and the box was ticked even though i don’t remember doing so. Maybe yours is the same so here’s how you get it back to chronological order.

twitter best tweets first

On your laptop or PC open Twitter and click on your small profile pic in the top right corner. A drop down menu will appear, scroll down and click settings which will open the page in the above pic.

Next to ‘Timeline’ make sure the grey box next to ‘Show me the best Tweets first’ is unchecked.

While you’re there you may as well make sure Video Autoplay box is also unchecked. It will save you a bunch of data.

Now you know.
