Watch Akani Simbine break the SA 100m record running 9.96 seconds [video]

It’s not often that a South African sprinter has the bragging rights of being the fastest man on the planet this year, but Akani Simbine can do just that after clocking 9.96 in the 100m sprint and setting a new SA record last night. Simbine ran the sub 10 second 100m at the ASA Nite Series in Pretoria.

He broke his own record by 100th of a second.

He will make the 100m final at the Olympics with that time.

How awesome would that be.
