UCT students burn historic paintings taken down from Jameson Hall [PICS]

Students protests at the University of Cape Town have escalated after the statues of Jan Smuts and Maria Emmeline Barnard Fuller were defaced yesterday HERE. Earlier today several students removed historic art from the Jameson Hall and set them on fire.

The fires have since been put out and the shack erected to protest student accomodation has been demolished. Stun grenades have been used by police and several students have been arrested. At the time of writing a car has reportedly been set on fire.

This is taking things way too far. Will the students be held responsible for the value of those paintings? (And the vehicle)
