This photograph of a potato sold for R17.5 million [pic]
Posted by on Jan 27th, 2016

Somewhere in the world some rich bastard is bragging to his mates ‘see this crappy pic of a potato…i paid €1 million for it’. Let’s not get into the whole debate about ‘is it art?’ and instead just shake your head at the fact that a photographer is actually charging R17,5 million for a photo of a potato and there is someone with enough money to just go ‘f**k it…i’ll take it’.

And of course famous photographer Kevin Abosch justified his price tag because it is not just a potato. He mouthfarted this to give it some meaning: “I see commonalities between humans and potatoes that speak to our relationship as individuals within a collective species.” “Generally, the life of a harvested potato is violent and taken for granted. I use the potato as a proxy for the ontological study of the human experience.”

Human experience my ass it’s still just a picture of a damn potato.

million potato

My ballbag is also proxy for the ontological study of the human experience. I’m happy to sell the buyer pics for a similar price.

Rich people hey.
