And just when you thought quality entertainment was dead, 547 000 people tuned into watch a live Periscope feed of a puddle in the UK. Yes a puddle in Drummond, Newcastle to be precise. After watching people trying to cross a big puddle that had formed outside his office block, Richard Rippon decided to set up a live Periscope feed and it quickly attracted over half a million viewers.
And here’s a clip of what people were watching.
“Beth Hazon, managing director of Drummond, said they had been watching people try to cross the puddle for weeks.
“It’s crazy, we watch it every single day,” she said. “There’s been so much rain in the past month that we’ve seen people try and navigate their way across the puddle as its quite a busy stretch.
“So we decided to stream it purely for our own amusement. I’d love to say there’s some clever deep strategy but it is just genuinely hilarious.” [BBC]
Exciting times in Britain.
