It’s no secret that West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle is a bit a ladies man and he has been in hot water before for making inappropriate comments to female journalists ,but this time he has been fined $10 000 for his remarks during a live interview at a Big Bash League game yesterday. Gayle was being interviewed by Mel McLaughlin and things quickly turned awkward and uncomfortable when he asked her to go for a drink after and then said ‘don’t blush baby’.
Press play and prepare to cringe.
Clearly she didn’t find that funny.
“Gayle has been fined $10,000 for the incident and his club, the Melbourne Renegades, has formally apologised to McLaughlin.
Told that McLaughlin was upset about the incident, Gayle said at the airport: “There wasn’t anything meant to be disrespectful or offensive to Mel. If she felt that way, I’m really sorry for that. There wasn’t any harm meant in that particular way, to harm any particular person in any particular way like that. It was a simple joke.” [Guardian]
That will learn him.
