We all know that reality shows are often manipulated or rigged in some way to make for better tv, but they seldom get caught in the act hey. Enter a home improvement show on M-Net’s Afrikaans channel kykNET which was supposed to do home makeovers for viewers, but instead used the house and garden of one of it’s producers to film six episodes. The show, Oulap Se Rooi, presented by the K2 twins is now under investigation after it was found that instead of choosing the rooms of viewers to make over, they filmed at the home of the shows director and co-producer who had his friends pretend the rooms were theirs.
“We did what we could to keep the show on the air”…this is what the producers have been quoted as saying once they were called out.
“kykNET’s fake-over home improvement show Oulap se Rooi presented by the K2 Twins from Vredendal, Charlie and Alex Kotze, has been exposed as a cheating television production, giving make-overs to the rooms and garden of the house of the show’s co-producer Francois van Wyk, instead of to viewers.” [News24]
