Ya hey…given the recent performance of the Springboks it seems that the general public opinion is that South African is in dire need of some decent coaching. The World Cup is around the corner and team has been well below average in the run up. Team selection and management is always a contentious topic, but some good news for Stormers fans today. Legend Australian coach Eddie Jones has been named as the new Stormrs coach to be unveiled next week. Some media sources are saying he is still in talks while other have stated that he will replace Alistair Coetzee on a 2 year contract which will see Jones become the highest paid rugby coach in SA. Let’s go with the latter shall we and assume Eddie will be the new coach.
Jones has stated he hasn’t signed a deal, but we all know how those things work hey. He’s not allowed to say anything till it gets announced, but this from the Cape Times.
“The Cape Times has learnt that the former Wallabies coach will replace Allister Coetzee, who has moved on to coach Kobelco Steelers in Japan after guiding the Stormers to the Super Rugby playoffs in June.
Backline coach Robbie Fleck will continue in his role, while new Western Province head coach John Dobson is likely to serve as another assistant. Forwards coach Matt Proudfoot has joined Coetzee in Japan.” [iol]
Jones would be a great coach.
Now you know.
