At least 17 people have been killed and hundreds injured after massive explosions occured at a dangerous goods warehouse in the Chinese port city of Tianjin. The warehouse caught fire around midnight and a shipment of explosives went off causing several huge blasts to rock the city…the second of which was equivalent to 21 tons of TNT detonating. Windows of buildings as far as 4km away were blown out and several people captured the incident on amateur video.
Here’s two of the amatuer videos.
“When the first explosion happened, it felt like a earthquake,” said Chen Bingzhi, who lives about 4km from the explosion site. “The whole building was shaking. I live on the fifth floor and all the windows are broken.” [Guardian]
More than 280 people were admitted to hospital with over 30 of them seriously injured.
