Sign the Uber Cape Town petition asking the city to give Uber drivers operating permits…over 16 000 already have
Posted by on Jul 3rd, 2015

If you’re a regular Uber user then you will no doubt have heard that Uber in Cape Town has been battling with the city to get it’s drive-partners proper operating permits. Regulation in the Western Cape has seen Uber cars being impounded and drivers being intimited because they don’t have the necessary metered taxi permits. Uber has been talking to the city for over a year explaining that they do not employ the drivers and that they differ from standard metered taxis. Getting the required licence is a process that should take weeks yet in the past 6 months not a single licence has been granted so a petition has been started to show support and help get Uber Cape Town drivers their operating permits.

I’ve just signed…making me signature 16359 so far.

uber cape town petition

I’ve said before that i was a late converter to Uber, but now that i’m a regular user it’s hard to imagine using any other taxi service. I wanna keep it that way and i’m sure most of you feel the same. For those of you still taking other means of transport…i was you not so long ago. You won’t know the difference until you try.

Now get involved and help out HERE. Will take a few seconds to show them support.

I am afraid Cape Town municipality has slipped into the rest of Africa.
I have also been waiting for an application to the city for over a year.
One of my other applications got “Lost”.
Both of these are squarely in target of the objective of bringing money and business to Cape Town, but the city is too arrogant to give service and think we work for them. Getting more like the country’s ruling party every day with many words but nothing to back those words up..
