One of the most dangerous things on South African roads is without a doubt trying to overtake an 18 wheeler truck on a national highway. Hundreds of head-on collisions and fatalities occur every year involving drivers trying to overtake long trucks on busy single lane roads and not seeing oncoming traffic. Enter the Samsung Safety truck…a semi truck with a big screen display at the back that’s wirelessly linked to a camera mounted on the front. It allows drivers behind the truck to see ahead before safely overtaking.
Very clever. Still a prototype, but being tested in Argentina.
That would be a lifesaver on SA national roads. And i’m guessing they could also record the live feed and monitor the truck drivers for safety and insurance purposes.
That being said…i don’t think 4 Samsung displays stuck to the back of a truck in SA would last very long.
