If you were an MTN customer that laughed a few weeks ago when Vodacom announced it would controversially push up subscription fees mid-contract then you can now wipe that smug look off your face because MTN has revealed it’s doing the same. From the 23 April, MTN users will be paying more for prepaid data bundles and the new subscription prices will kick in on 13 May.
MTN said that ‘the reduction in mobile termination rates (MTR), plus the increased costs of investing in our network, driven by the weakening local currency has required us to review our pricing so that we can make sure it is aligned with the competitive landscape.’
Here are some of the old and new prices via Mybroadband.
