Costly typo of the day belongs to a managing director in Welkom who was meant to pay one of his workers R5 687,61 and instead left out the comma and ended up depositing over half a million Rand into his account. The worker pulled out his finders-keepers card and is now refusing to pay back the money after depositing R400 000 into is wifes account.
The accidental payment has now resulted in a court application to retrieve the money.
See what happens when your President won’t pay back the money…it encourages regular folks to do the same.
“In a court application to get the money back, Michael Mochudi, managing director of Motsi Civils and Plant Hire in Welkom, said he meant to pay R5 687.61 into Kathu worker Phemelo Mothupi’s Capitec account, but left a comma off by mistake.
He called Mothupi as soon as he realised what he had done, but Mothupi said he was not going to return it.” [Fin24]
