Online movie and series streaming service, Netflix, is officially coming to South Africa. Well in the next two years anyway. The company told shareholders that it would be completing global expansion plans to 150 countries earlier than expected. They told tech website Mybroadband that while there aren’t any further details they were confident South Africa is one of the countries they will be coming to.
How they gonna cope with our kak interwebs is another story, but lets cross that bridge when we get there hey.
Given that DStv already offers movies on demand with it’s Box Office service, Netflix will be a welcome alternative and may eventually bring prices down.
“Asked to confirm that South Africa forms part of its global expansion plans, Netflix stated that it intends to be fully global by the end of 2016.
“We have not provided details of when we plan to go where, but you can be confident South Africa is among the countries we intend to serve sometime in the next two years,” Netflix said. ” [Mybroadband]
