  • Here’s a MyCiti bus smashing into several cars on Victoria Rd near Clifton 2nd [video]
Posted by on Jul 8th, 2014

It was ages ago that i ranted briefly about the MyCiti bus service from Cape Town central to Camps Bay saying the winding road was too narrow and that come peak summer season it would cause traffic issues with illegally parked vehicles. That still has to be tested, but in the mean time the new 108 and 109 routes have started running and i’ve used it numerous times to go from Sea Point to Camps Bay and vice versa. The road is also winding and narrow at certain points and anyone who lives along it will tell you that they’ve lost a few side mirrors. Well a couple of days ago a few residents lost more than just a side-mirror after a MyCiti bus ploughed into several parked cars along Victoria Rd.

    accident

Here’s slow motion footage from a security camera showing the accident.

And here’s an eye-witness report from the dude running from the bus in that footage above.

    Luckily nobody was injured.

I got dashcam footage of a bus skipping a red light. All I got from MyCity was a generic reply about how they value their customers etc. On Sunday I saw a driver racing down High Level Road happily chatting on his cellphone. Watch this space for more accidents.

Probably the same driver that hit me in March. I am still this date waiting on MyCiti to compensate me for my physio bills after severe whiplash! This is after it took them a week to even contact me after the accident, even though I called them daily, getting the run around.
The drivers excuse when she hit me. She was tired and the hand brake failed. It was 1pm in the afternoon and we were in dead still traffic jam. She not only hit me once but twice!! Hard!!

    Thought MyCiti was

I am still waiting on MyCiti to reimburse me for medical bills cause by one of their busses driving into the back of me not once but twice – this incident happened in March!!
The drivers excuse was that she was tired (at 1pm) and that the handbrake failed – even though we were in dead still traffic.
It took over a week for someone to finally contact me even though I called them numerous times daily and kept getting the run around…
Its now July and still no money for physio after severe whiplash.

Thought MyCiti was supposed to the safer option to Golden Arrow, but found out they use the same untrained drivers… I wonder where these people get their PDP licences from….
