  • The COPA Coca-Cola programme is sending this SA teen to experience the FIFA World Cup™ live
Posted by on Jun 9th, 2014

In just a few days the FIFA World Cup™ begins and if you’re like me then i bet you can’t wait. Seems like it was just yesterday when we were the hosts back  in 2010 and how phenomenal was that experience hey. Come June 12 though there will be few people in this country who are as excited for kickoff as Carl van Rensburg. You see…young Carl van Rensburg has been passionate about football his whole life and through the COPA Coca-Cola programme he has been  chosen to experience the event live in Brazil. Rad initiative and i’ll be following his progress during the tournament so read on.

Coca-Cola® knows that the true soccer fans aren’t always able to reach the live action, and so the COPA Coca-Cola programme aims to close that gap. The goal of COPA Coca-Cola® is uniting teenagers in over 60 countries around the world to celebrate their passion for football and highlighting the drive to encourage and promote an active, healthy lifestyle through sport participation.

Carl is one of the lucky ones who have been chosen to travel to Brazil on 10 June and realise his football dreams. He started playing soccer at age 11, and his greatest memory is when he won all the league trophies in his club last season (soccer clubs around SA take note). When asked what he’s most looking forward to with the Copa Coca-Cola programme, Carl said the chance to meet new people and absorb the Brazilian culture. Carl gave everything for football, now football is giving back to him with COPA Coca-Cola!

I’m going to be following Carl’s journey as he ventures across the globe and gets this life changing experience to watch the FIFA World Cup™ live and if you want to hear more about what else he’ll be getting up to, make sure you keep checking Life is Savage and follow @CocaCola and the #WorldsCupZA hashtag.

    Well played Coca-Cola®.

    Good times.
