The Life is Savage Interview: 10 and half questions with Zac R
Posted by on Apr 17th, 2014

So last week the  Life is Savage Interview mades a welcome return with 10 standard questions (and a few left field ones) i ask everyone so you can get to know them better. I enjoyed the answers so much that i’m definitely gonna keep it going and will likely do more than one a week since there are so many people i wanna interview, all of whom have affected me in some way…enough so that i want you fine readers to meet them as well.

Person i want you to meet today is someone i admire and whose Twitter bio goes like so...”Tea, tequila & typo fiend | Nice guys should finish last | The pun’s always intended | Always be kinder than is necessary – JM Barrie”

Say hi to Zac R.

And here are the standard 10 and bit questions i asked Zac plus a personal photo i requested that means something to him.

1: If i came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare for me?

Jamie Oliver’s chicken pie with grilled root veg and frozen berry and yoghurt for dessert. You’re going to a black guy’s house for dinner – of course you’re getting chicken for dinner!

2: What do you think about when you are alone in your car?”

Quite a number of things:

  • Oh look that would make a nice Instagram shot!
  • I wonder if I’ll adopt a girl or a boy…. No jokes.

3: Do you fold or crumple your toilet paper?

Fold. ALWAYS fold.

4: If you could have written any song in history which one would it have been?

Michael Jackson  – Thriller

5: Pick two SA celebrities to be your parents?

Vuyo Mbuli (passed away, what a pity) and Charlize Theron

6: What one talent or skill do you have that not many people know about?

I can sing along to just about any Blink 182 song. Also I can make just about any baby stop crying. Call me the baby whisperer.

7: Do you like thick or thin boerewors?

Thin. always thin.

8: Give me some wise advice…

If they respect you, respect them. If they disrespect you, still, respect them. Do not allow the actions of others to decrease your good manners, because you represent yourself, not others. Oh and always give way to other cars / pedestrians in traffic.

9: Your favorite place to eat in Cape Town or South Africa?

Knysna: East head restaurant. Those burgers – orgasmic!

10: Number one thing on your bucket list?

See the northern lights!

And now some serious questions…

Tell us what you do?

I work for a mobile payments company. We process most of the mobile transactions that happen in store. i.e. if you’re using your phone to buy or pay for anything in store – chances are your money is going through our platform.

What can we expect from you in the near future?

Some things I can’t quite publicly share yet – but think about this: what if anywhere you went you could pay for anything using only your phone….

Can you tell us about this picture i asked you to send in and what it means to you?

I grew up in a big family and have always loved children. This was the first time I got to take my (now) godson up on the mountain with me. He was probably around 5 months old and I could feel his little heart beating against my chest. He’s now about 2 and a half and runs around like mad and we’ve gone up lion’s head and some other outdoor activities since – but yeah this photo will always be special because it was a first for me.

How can folks learn more about your awesomeness and get hold of you?
