Elephant charges and flips a car at Kruger National Park [video]
Posted by on Jan 14th, 2014

I think it’s about time that the South African wildlife authorities change the Big Five to the Big Six. It’s been way too long that elephants, lions etc have held onto the title and it’s time to add a sixth animal…the dumbass tourist. Youtube is filled with videos of the dumbass tourist and yesterday another sighting was reported at the Kruger National Park. The video of an elephant overturning a blue Golf will surely go viral, not only because the dumbass tourists decided to drive right next to the big male elephant, but also because of the excellent Afrikaans commentary by the group filming the action.

kruger park

And here’s the full video.

Ha! That one girl in the car is South Africa’s David Attenborough.

“Daar kom hy…nee fok shit. Ben draai net om”.

Hope the dumbass tourists in the car are ok though. Seriously though…don’t drive up to a fully grown male elephant. It’s not smart.

UPDATE: the elephant bull was killed after the incident took place on Monday.

“Several people have reacted with outrage at the Kruger National Park’s decision to kill an aggressive elephant bull that attacked a couple on Monday. “It was completely unnecessary to kill the elephant bull that damaged a car and injured a person yesterday in the Kruger Park. SANParks must provide us with the details of who took this decision and on what management level this utter stupid decision was taken,” Robbie Botes ” [News24]

100% the drivers fault. They didnt even try to reverse. What were they thinking!!!!! First they look like they are going for the elephant, and then just stopping right in front of it. Absolute idiots.

But the comments were classic. “Hy gaan hulle vermoor” She will not win any awards for her camera work though

That sucks about the elephant, dumb tourists. But the running commentary makes this video a classic: “Draai om, shit. Fok, shit!” Gotta love die taal.

The VW driver clearly has not educated himself about park etiquette, or is disgustingly arrogant. If you are in the park, you are in the animals’ territory.

He should not have driven up to the elephant in the first place, but to stay where he was after the elephant gave plenty of warning is just asking for trouble.

I hope they will be donating a decent amount of money to conservation efforts after behaving like such dooses. I am infuriated that the animal was blamed for their stupidity.

Complete BS that the elephant was killed as a result. Disgrace!

They were given about 3 warnings by the elephant and had plenty of time to reverse! Really people should be given an induction course before being allowed to drive in the game reserves. Infact, IQ tests should be given… The commentary was classic!

The driver is totally to blame. I am devastated that they put the elephant down. There is no accounting for the sheer arrogance and stupidity of humans.

Why shoot the elephant and not the people? Unacceptable, if you are willing to put yourself in that situation, then deal with the consequences…

The elephant was the only real nigga in this entire equation. How they gonna kill the elephant for going elephant on these dumb ass tourists?! As Katt Williams would say….

Considering humans are purported to be the superior animal species the daily idiocy displayed, amply illustrated here, never ceases to amaze me.
It is we who invade the animals territory when we visit places like Kruger and any individual with a grain of sands worth of common sense, knows not to to approach or if unavoidable, remain close to any wild animal.
I agree with all those demanding Sanparks publish the rationale in killing the elephant.

A magnificent animal was killed because of the stupidity of that couple…I hope something is learn’t from this. They were in the Elephants space, what were they thinking??, also very sad that the Kruger Park management killed the Elephant.

Roxane says:

Totally agree – elephant’s territory and tourists did not make any move to try and safeguard themselves, even after elephant’s warning. Elephant should not have been killed!!!

James says:

I feel for the tourists. The park should be sued for not giving the tourists rules on what to do if they meet tourists. Where were the park guides for the tourists?

James says:

Sorry, I meant ‘if they meet elephants…
