  • Giveaway – 2 tickets to the amazing NYE experience at the V&A worth R3000 each
Posted by on Dec 19th, 2013

Have you got plans for New Year’s Eve 2013 in Cape Town yet? Well if you’re like me then you’re probably still undecided (or your friend Si cancelled his braai at his house on a whim), but fear not because i have something for you and it is glorious. The V&A Waterfront always hosts a massive NYE party, but this year is gonna be their biggest one yet. And one of you is gonna win 2 tickets and front row seats worth R3000 each. Magical.

And here’s how you will be bringing in the new year.

    • A sunset cruise on the Ameera Catamaran complete with food and drinks on the 31st
    • You’ll then be taken to a prime spot beneath the stage on jetty 1 at the V&A Waterfront when the sun sets
    • Ring in the new year while watching 4 top SA bands, comedians, circus performers and 2 fireworks shows

Sound good? Well then read on my friend.

I don’t wanna spoil it by telling you the names of the bands and the comedians so you’re gonna have to watch this video. They are huge though.

A better NYE event you will struggle to find.

Now here’s how you can win those tickets.

First up is to follow @lifeissavage on Twitter (no reason but i’m throwing it in anyways so show a brother some festive season love hey).

Then watch that video above and tell me in the comment section below which band or comedian you are most amped to see performing. As always you get my attention and bonus points if you tell me why you deserve the tickets with a story. Remember they are worth R3000 each so it better be a quality story. Make me laugh, name drop the artists performing, kiss ass etc. Basically be awesome.

    Now get invovled.

    Will pick a winner tomorrow.

More info HERE on what bands and comedians etc will be performing on the night.

UPDATE: competition closed. Organisers have chosen a winner and Grant Cohen gets to experience NYE at the V&A in style. Thanks everyone for entering wish i could se you all.

Due to my past chaos over this time of year, I haven’t had a good new years eve since the year 1999 going into 2000. I plan to make up for it this year! I will make sure that I am in PRIME (CIRCLE) form, although I wont go overboard on the yacht as I want to wake up fairly FRESH(lyground) the next morning for the start of the New Year. It would be RUDe(I) and MENTAL for me not to enter this competition! So here is my entry, please wish me GOOD LUCK! Please don’t ROB (van Vuuren) me of this opportunity! I know I will win something EVANS(tually). Zip Zap, please make my wish come true!! (The things in brackets are silent but violent). Life IS indeed Savage, but please make it amazing for just 1 day and night! I’ll clean your car! Haha

Also not sure what exactly his reaction may be like after he hears this GOOD NEWS but I hope that we will get life jackets for the sunset cruise on the Ameera Catamaran, he might just decide to JUMP ” OVER BOARD” with excitement!!!

I’ve been out of town the past few years and NYE hasn’t been the same. They’ve been a bit lame. I’m pretty sure it has something to do with simply not being in Cape Town.

Now that I’m back, I want to do it in style; Cape Town style all the way!

It would therefore make sense to be guided by the notorious Cape blogger, Mr Savage: he knows whats potting! And what is a more Cape Town-style spot to do it at the the V&A Waterfront with some homegrown talent – especially the stereotypical Cape Town sounds of Freshly Ground!

The music, the lights, the water, the good food, good laughs and good company! I cannot think of a better way to bring in 2014.

I’m fed up of the hype that is New Years Eve but mostly I’m fed up with not being in Cape Town.

NYE 2013/2014 is going to be different!

Keen – very keen – to watch my GP perform (one of the Rudimentals’ guitarists – the guy with the cool side burns) as well as Freshly Ground for so many reasons: being served at Royale by Kyla-Rose when they were newbies, going to their first CD launch – awesome party, bumping into K-R at Tamboerswinkel and being really chuffed when she went with my bfast suggestion (she was undecided and I was also at the counter – suggested feta with her eggs). NY Eve often disappoints – this prize would not!

Me again… So I finally managed to get an RT out of Rob Van Vuuren after struggling for months, tweeting him jokes that I thought was funny, clearly he never concurred!! But how happy I am that he chose this VERY IMPORTANT TWEET to retweet!! I would so LOVE to thank him in person!!! Please make it happen!! :)

Hello so the best way I can make u understand why I need to win these tickets is because I’m essentially a 23 yr old nerd and if u don’t drag me out to NYE celebrations I’m probably going to be pulling an all nighter studying and preparing for law school in 2014 . So please give me a reason and an excuse to enjoy one night without studying worries 😉 cz I haven’t ever gone out and celebrated a NYE ( yes I’m sounding looser-ish) oh and I’d really love to watch PRIME CIRCLE live .please pretty please give me a life 😉

Basically I just need to be there cause PRIME CIRCLE can’t go rocking CT without their biggest fan! Who will sing along to the lyrics of all their songs and back them up just in case they forget a word or two?
Be the man cause you know you can and make a bro’s 2014!

First lemme start by “sharing a coke with Life is Savage”. Aaaah
Honestly we need the time away from the kiddos – time out in a good way. I look forward to seeing Prime Circle – they are my favourite SA Band. Hubby porked the cat by not surprising me with tix to see them on my Birthday and I have not forgotten it with every argument. How fitting for a NYE treat. And isn’t it awesome how Goodluck rings in the year – good band and good luck for 2014. Here’s to us winning :)

Hey! well, firstly, My bf and I were planning on going to waterfront but imagine me winning tickets to this! Not ONLY will it let me score major brownie points AND make up for not watching him play soccer, but it will knock his socks off! besides, its our 1st New Years together and we both had a pretty hectic year at university… (you know, with studying and working and exams and all and all). Also, I seriously like Goodluck so that’s a bonus for me… and I am kinda obsessed with fireworks… please… please… I’l like you on facebook and become a crazy obsessed fan… please… okay? Oh and…. we have both never been out on New Years before… and we 20 years old… (strict families if you may), but wining something like this will allow them to let us go out… (you know how much Indians like to win)

such a lovely site.. (I am not sucking up..)

I am in for Oh I have quite a story to tell. I planned an amazing trip to the rural beaches of Eastern Cape with my long distance boyfriend. We booked accommodation and we talked about what we were going to see there. I even sent him pictures of the biggest pineapple in Bathurst and I was excited to show him a good time. A few days ago he called and sad sorry I met someone new. That’s changes everything. I booked flights eh booked accommodation so he got his money back. Kulula said no. It’s either you fly o change the dates. So I have a ticket from Jhb back to Cape Town early January and a quite new years eve at home with my parents. I refuse. I rather be here. I refuse to cry in a corner so posting pics of a fab party would be my way of saying Life goes on sucker.

Yes, I’m female, and I’ll be dropping down on 1 knee for my significant other. His THAT special I tell you! Come one! It’s the 21st century! :) and what better way to do it under the stars, on new years eve, in THE BEST CITY in the world, queue the fireworks 😉 It’ll be absolutely AWESOME & MEMORABLE for sure! Last new years I was in bed (in a tent) by 10 and asleep by about 1 – lets just say I got the new year off with a bang. Looking to up my game this time round and my partner in crime says the tent aint going to do it no more. Help! I need this one Savage!

This is the coolest thing since the SA world cup. Prime circle and freshly ground are going to show Cape Town the most amazing start to 2014. I would really love to have the opportunity to join their exciting programme. Please give me the tickets. Pretty please with a cherry on top and chocolate sauce all around it.

Honestly, it’s tough to decide which is the more awesome: getting to watch Prime Circle and GoodLuck bring the New Year in with some partying done right, or the blogger/ master daddy who is making it possible! (We all know it’s probably the latter ;))

New Years is one of my favourite nights of the year, and while Im always at the VnA to watch the fireworks, this year it’s time to up the ante and get in with the cool kids (you WILL be there, won’t you?)

It sounds like an absolute blast and another example of how Cape Town just gets it right. So be a champ and send an invite to the cool kids club this way: drinks are on me 😀

This is an excellent prize. I actually enjoy going to the waterfront on New Years Eve. Although to avoid the crowds we have managed to find a secret location that provides a perfect view of the fireworks, some music in the background and the chance to have your own picnic. All this while watching the masses mass about.

I enjoy all the bands. I’d pick Prime Circle for that rock energy vibe then Good Luck for some uplifting music and the Rudimentals for Mo’Fire(works). As for the Comedian (if I win) Rob van Vuuren. half the jokes he tells with his face so you have to be up close.

You have the chance to make this an extra special New Years! I can already see myself sailing away into 2014.

    December 12, 2013 at 11:51 am

    Mr Savage

Deciding on the South African band & comedian is probably the most challenging part of this competition.

Freshly Ground has to win. Not only because their really great at what they do but because Barack Biden Obama mentioned them in his speech at UCT earlier this year.

Martin Evans for being able to make a joke about South Africa’s beloved Nelson Mandela & Oscar Pistorius in one go. Then getting away with it.

Reason why those tickets should find themselves in my hands this year and the next. Brace yourself…

Last year I went with a friend and his girlfriend(Now separated) to the beach where we gazed upon the fireworks whilst drinking some bubbly(this was legal on that beach. Promise). After all the action dried up I informed them that its obvious that they will be having a good evening and that I should be dropped at he gay-district of Cape Town.
After spending seven years in the closet I realised that it was time to take on gay Cape Town. They say you have to go through the desert to reach the oasis.
Was dropped in front of the closed off gay-dsitrict. Walked up to the slightly intimidating bouncer to find out what the entrance fee will be. He replied R250. Reached down bravely into my pockets and got hold of R240. Thats all I had and asking for R10 in those parts at that time of night was not the wisest decision. Can only imagine what I would have to do for it. Probably go down and beg on my knees.

So, gay new years was cancelled. Waited for my friends to come and pick me up at the closest Mc Donalds. Which I found to be the one at the V&A Waterfront. The burger was dry.

Wherever New Years is happening for me this year I hope will be better than the night in Mc Donald’s.

I’d be so stoked to see Freshlyground live for the first time. Been trying for years to see them at Sunset concerts in kirstenbosche but always too late for a ticket. My husband is planning on bringing in the New Year on the road as a cab driver which he has been doing for the past 3 years since we got married. Winning these tickets… The ONLY way to change his mind to spend NYE with me. We’ve never spent a single NYE together since we met 5 years ago. And we know how to start a party so u won’t be sorry if u pick me :-)
