  • Dog trapped in Kimberley’s Big Hole has been successfully rescued [pics]
Posted by on Nov 23rd, 2013

#Underdog has been saved! A dog which miraculously survived the 200 meter drop into Kimberley’s Big Hole has been successfully rescued.

I don’t normally post anything on weekends, but i’m making an exception for this good news story. The dog, dubbed #Underdog by social media, had apparently been seen at the bottom of the Kimberley Big Hole for 8 days and initial rescue efforts had failed because of instability of the area around the hole and a lack of ropes long enough to make the descent. Earlier today though 7 rescuers made their way to the bottom and hoisted the stranded dog to safety.

Outstanding effort from the rescuers at ER24 EMS, SAPS Search and Rescue. And everyone else who had a part in getting the dog to safety. Well done guys.

    Heartwarming story of the day.

Outstanding work to the rescuers at ER24 EMS, SAPS Search and Rescue. It is heart warming to know that they went the extra mile for this Lab.. even though some heartless people felt this was a waste of time. Dogs saves peoples lives all over the world. This is our thank you to them by saving one of them, and to the Lab… you are one hell of dog…..Well done guys.

Well done to the rescuers!!! Well done to Underdog for the gritty determination and will to live. It must have been a horrifying ordeal for the poor Lab. I’m amazed she did not have a heart attack from the shock. You guys give me hope again. THANKS TO ALL
