It’s not often that i’m left astounded, but i saw a story yesterday that i thought you should definitely read. Go to Google Maps…just click HERE and a new window will open. Then in the search box just copy paste this location 16°51’52.87″N 11°57’14.18″E . It will take you to the location in the pic below. I’m not gonna spoil it for you by showing you what happens when you zoom. Just keep zooming. Then read what took place there below.
As is evident, the location where the marker is in the middle of nowhere practically. If you did what i said and zoomed in you will have seen what is there. The nearest town is 140 miles away. The Tenere region of the Sahara desert is one of the most inaccessible places on the planet.
Here’s what it is.
In 1989, flight UTA Flight 772 took off from Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo and never made it to Paris France. All 155 passengers and 15 crew tragically died when a suitcase bomb caused the plane to crash.
Eighteen years later, families of the victims came together at the crash site and with the help of locals they brought in stones from 70km away to construct a memorial.
