Mascot fail – Fukushima Industries reveal new mascot called…Fukuppy [pic]
Posted by on Oct 14th, 2013

There is a whole section of the internet devoted to the amateur fails of Japanese signs or labels poorly translated into English, but you’d think a company creating a new corporate logo or mascot would at least go through the effort of getting someone who speaks Engish to double check if there could be a misunderstanding. Not so much a company called Fukushima Industries who unfortunately named their new mascot…

Now before you start making a correlation between the Fuskushima nuclear disaster and the irony of naming a new mascot Fukuppy let me school you quickly and tell you that the two have nothing to do with each other. It’s merely coincidence. Fukushima Industries is a company that makes fridges in the south of Japan. The nuclear disaster happened in the north.

Still amusing though ( or maybe really smart marketing) that they ended up with a mascot called Fukuppy.
