Ben Affleck named as the new Batman – internet outrage ensues
Posted by on Aug 23rd, 2013

Batman fans around the world have lost their sh*t at the news that Ben Affleck has been named as the new dark knight.  Affleck will take over from Christian Bale as the other caped crusader in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel. According to Warner Brothers president ‘We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some’.

Cue internet outrage.

If the sentiment on social media is anything to go by then i reckon the producers need to go back to the drawing board.

Here’s a snapshot of my timeline and only the people i follow in the past hour… take into account its 6am. It’s gonna get a lot worse when folks start waking up.

And that’s only the people i follow. If you do a global search for ‘Affleck Batman’ hundreds of comments are streaming in every second and let’s just say it’s not looking good for Affleck.

Don’t think Ben Affleck should be looking at Twitter today.

“The untitled film will be helmed by Man Of Steel director Zack Snyder, and will also star Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Diane Lane reprising their roles.

‘Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman,’ said the director.

‘He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne.

‘I can’t wait to work with him.’ [Mail Online]

They better make sure there are some acting skills in Affleck’s utility belt.

Oh and look i made a meme to celebrate.

Quite frankly I don’t see any other Actor in Hollywood who could play Batman. Robert Downey is taken, Hemsworth is too young. None of the others have look anything like the Batman of the comics so it kind does make sense for him to play that role.
Daredevil was wieghed down by the script and the fact that only comic book readers know about the fringe Comic Book heroes. Also the movie released at a time when Comic Books turned into Movies were not in. Scream and the I know what you did movies were the ‘n thing’at the time so there was no way people were going to watch a movie about an obscure superhero…
I think hell be fine. No one thought Cavill a little known Brit could pull of playing Clark Kent and he did… Zack Snyder will do a brilliant job and Affelecks acting has improved so it should be good.
