Quick little rugby update for you sports fans….it’s been known for a while that Stormers and WP rugby player Bryan Habana was gonna move to France for 3 years and play for Toulon after the 2013 Super Rugby season. Habana said earlier in the year that making the move wasn’t an easy decision, but felt the time was right for a new challenge and that “It’s a wrench to leave my home, even if only for a short while, but the chance to test myself against different opposition in a new environment was difficult to turn down”. ESPN yesterday revealed Habana will be getting R660 000 a month playing for Toulon…the third highest paid player in the France league.
Very difficult to leave Cape Town and turn down the chance to test yourself against different opposition. Pffft..who cares about ze money…it’s all about your passion for the game even if the French pronounce your name Abana without the ‘H’.
Interesting to note that Bakkies Botha is not doing too badly at Toulon either raking in €41,000 a month.
Curious to know how much Habana was making at the Stormers per month.
