BlackBerry goes up for sale – announces it’s exploring strategic alternatives
Posted by on Aug 13th, 2013

Is that the sound of the fat lady singing? Well it may not be the end of the road for BlackBerry, but it comes as no surprise that the former giant of the smartphone era announced yesterday it was ‘exploring strategic alternatives’ which business analysts know as code for looking for a buyer. Once the global leader in the industry, BlackBerry went from having a 51 % hold on the North American market just 4 years ago to having a mere 3.4 % today. That is a catastrophic decline.

And here’s part of the statemnet released yesterday.

Can read the rest HERE if you want.

And what does this mean for BlackBerry fans..well i reckon you’ll be ok for now and in the event of a sale you will still be able to use your phone for a while still i gather.

Also i think i need a new phone. Think its finally time i go check out the Samsung Galaxy or iPhone.

I’m not an iPhone fan. Think it is overpriced and the apps are overpriced, so with my upgrade a few months ago I went for a Samsung. And I must admit I still miss my BB. Everybody was always laughing at me for using a BB, but I never had any trouble with it.

Regardless of what happens to BlackBerry, being on ANY other phone especially the iphone or Samsung Galaxy absolutely destroys your airtime…

as you are billed for every single bit of data transfer…

YES, whatsapp on both iphone and Galaxy use a mega-load of data transfer… and don’t forget about the internet downloads counting towards data-usage.

Basically if you have about R 300 – R 400 per month to spend on airtime or data – then buy it OR
buy the phone on contract. But if you’re struggling financially – stick with Blackberry.
