[insert your own swear word here]. The price of petrol in South Africa will rise again tomorrow (Wednesday 7 August) to R13.18 at the coast and R13.55 in Gauteng…a new record high. Motorists will pay an extra 32 cents per litre which effectively means that filling the tank of an average car will cost roughly R70 more than it did 5 weeks ago.
And cue the same picture i always use when posting something about the petrol price going up.
“Some of the reasons for the fuel price increase are the already high oil prices, the rand/dollar exchange rate and political instability in the oil-producing regions affecting the crude oil price, according to the Minerals and Energy Ministry.
The latest hike means that South Africans will in just five weeks have had to pay about R1.16 a litre more to fill their tanks.” [Business Report]
