  • This insect landed on me in Canada…just about shat myself [pic]
Posted by on Jul 18th, 2013

So if you didn’t know i’m in Canada right now and Life is Savage will be back to normal tomorrow, but i just wanted to share a quick story since i want you to imagine what it would have been like if this happened to you. There’s me just minding my own business going to the local corner shop cafe when i felt something land on my arm. Looked down at this was on it.

No lies..screamed like a girl and nearly shat my pant.

Took that pic after it flew off (well i threw it off) and landed on a wall nearby. Doesn’t look like much on the wall, but i kid you not… it was the size of the palm of my hand. Went home and did some checking and here’s pics of it’s size relative to your hand.

Apparently it’s not poisonous and called a Dobson Fly, but imagine that thing landed on you.

They should rename that thing the Satans Anus Fly.

Ah, yes, Cornydalus cornutus. Delicious when sauteed with some rosemary and garlic.

A Dobsonfly is any insect of the subfamily Corydalinae, part of the megalopteran family Corydalidae. There are over 220 species of dobsonflies. Dobsonflies are found throughout the Americas and Asia, as well as SOUTH AFRICA. Their closest relatives are the fishflies.

    I am officially freaked out.
