Ok so here’s the thing. I’m gonna sound like i’m preaching, but bear with me because it’s something that’s been bugging me for quite some time. It blows my mind at the stupidity and absolute recklessness of the amount of people i know that drink and drive in South Africa…it needs to stop. These are seemingly intelligent people and yet i simply cannot understand why they would make such a poor decision. We all know someone who does it…some on a regular basis and for years i’ve had the conversation on why this attitude in SA exists.
Whatever the reason…the problem of drinking and driving in Cape Town and this country must end.
So i’m throwing my full support behind the new Drive Dry initiative and i’m calling on all you fine people to do the same, make a pledge and declare your intention to stop drinking and driving or man up and be the designated driver. Let’s start by changing the behaviour of those close to us and move onto those around us. We can make a difference people.
Why would you risk it..why?
In the past the award winning Drive Dry campaigns have used hard-hitting truths like the Papa Wag Vir Jou ads and now they are taking the next step and asking people to commit to responsible behaviour and make the choice between ‘drinking and not driving’ or ‘driving and not drinking’.
So here’s what i want from you.
- Visit the Drive Dry Facebook page HERE and participate in the new Facebook app known simply as “The Drive”.
- Simply logon onto the website www.drivedry.co.za and pledge online you will “drink and not drive” or “drive and not drink”.
Can you do that..of course you can. And i know you will because it’s about damn time we put an end to clearly drunk people saying “Dude..I’m fine i swear. I’m not drunk“ before ending up behind the wheel.
Now by making your declaration you’ll also stand a chance to win some pretty cool stuff. Check it.
I’ve made my declaration.
Now go make yours.
Seriously…the stupidity of people drinking and driving must stop and we can make it happen as long as we change people’s way of thinking. It’s not cool to drink and drive and it kills people. Don’t let it happen to you or your friends.
