You know that show An Idiot Abroad…well the star of that show, Karl Pilkington, was in South Africa recently to find whether he would enjoy a lavish, extravant lifestyle. Dunno what the show producers were thinking, but they sent him to spend some time with ‘Sushi King’ Kenny Kunene and learn how to enjoy the ways of outlandish bling.
And what did he learn from Kenny…well according to Pilkington he said that Kenny’s lifestyle of fast cars, champagne and bikini-clad women is ‘a bit of a nightmare’ actually.
Pilkington was in SA filming the fourth season of An Idiot Abroad called The Moaning of Life in order to understand how to enjoy the success he has achieved as a result of the show.
“His week with Kunene and McKenzie forms part of an episode exploring whether a luxurious, extravagant lifestyle, driven by conspicuous spending and consumption, could satisfy him.
Kunene was, frankly, baffled by the Brit.
“Karl just doesn’t have a sense of what money does for you. His show is so successful, but he still drives the same old car he bought 20 years ago. I don’t know why he makes his money if he doesn’t know how to enjoy it,” he said. [City Press]
The episode is due to air in SA on DStv in October later this year. It includes Kenny trying to get Pilkington to eat sushi off a model to which the famous actor refused.
Great…now the Brits will undoubtedly think that all of SA is like Kenny.
