Best Of Cape Town 2013 – best hairdresser [top 10]
Posted by on Mar 14th, 2013

So last week i decided to kick off the Best Of Cape Town 2013 polls and changed things up a bit. Last year focused mainly on food like where in Cape Town would you go for the best burger, best sushi or best coffee etc. The polls were all crowd sourced and compiled using social media. I essentially wanted locals to decided and not experts and the results were truly informative and pretty awesome HERE.

This year though i’m moving away from food and throwing in some other polls that may be useful to the people of Cape Town or those visiting the city. Starting with last weeks one where i asked who is the best hairdresser in CT. Not since the sushi poll last year has there been so much interaction and strong opinions voiced. One thing is certain…people are fiercely loyal to the person that cuts their hair!

Right so here’s the top 10 hairdressers in Cape Town as chosen by you fine folks.

  1. Mirrors Hair LabCandice: 2 Molteno Rd, Gardens 021 424 3931
  2. Muse Hair and Beauty – Bianca: Shop 3, 1st Floor, 50 Kloof Street 021 424 4249
  3. HAND hair, beauty, fashion café – Michael: 13 Park Road, Tamboerskloof 021 802 4263
  4. SAVAS for hair – Corwen Street, Claremont 021 674 1200

  8. Lionel Kin – 083 767 5577
  9. ScarJenni: 22 Kloof Street, Gardens 021 422 5900
  10. Expressions – 14 Constantia Courtyard , Main Rd, Constantia 021 794 0563

So now you know.

There were plenty of other suggestions that didn’t make the top 10 and they included Boy Girl, Trade Secret, Lila Vie, Syzygy, Reds, Palladium , Carlton Hair, Spoilt and many more.

My hairdresser failed to make the cut, but hey i pay R32 a cut so suck on that. Near the escalator in the Adelphi Centre in Sea Point.

No at all impressed with Scar. Had an average cut with Andrew and had to go back to fix highlights. He is a very nice guy but certainly not the top hairdresser in Cape Town. They also like to hand you over to apprentices for blow dries which irritates me because you are still spending top dollar there.

absolutely disgraceful salon Mirrors. My wife had a 4:30 pm appointment with Candice , upon arriving at the salon we were then told that someone else would be cutting my wife’s hair. We specifically booked with Candice not anyone else. We travelled far to make it for the 4:30 appointment. We were told to return at 5:30 when Candice would be available (despite the fact that they phoned us the day before to confirm our 4:30 appointment.) at around 4:50 we were phoned by Candice to say that she would now not be able to see us at all and that we must come back some other day. We said that this is an unacceptable way to be treated at which point she hung up the phone. This Salon clearly has no idea how to treat it’s customers. The behavior and conduct of the owner Candice Donadel is completely unprofessional and downright rude. I would not recommend this salon and Candice to anyone.

Thank you for this feedback – I am only responding so that Candice can actually realise that 2 years later her lack of professionalism and the shocking way that she handled clients will keep people away from her salon. I am from Joburg and looking for a really good hairdresser in Cape Town (only here for a day) and I can only imagine how the above client must have felt when she was so rude. Martin, you have probably saved me time and money – thank you!
